Ordonez Butcher is looking for a motivated, ambitious, and self-starting individual to take on the role of Store Manager for two of our retail locations in Leamington. Your Responsibilities:
- Supervising the day-to-day operations of both retail locations in Leamington (and eventually a future location in Windsor)
- Working primarily alongside the team in a customer-facing capacity, leading by example in demonstrating professionalism and maintaining a positive, proactive, and productive work environment compliant with company policies & procedures
- Providing input and support to the team on labour hours, scheduling, ordering, and other management tasks.
- Performing, delegating, and coaching safe completion of tasks ensuring that food safety and cleanliness standards are followed at all times, and reporting any actual or near-miss injuries according to company policy and legal requirements
- Organizing staff safety programs and department sanitation procedures
- Training new employees or arranging for training
- Planning and actioning initiatives that enable the achievement of targets for sales and waste
- Monitoring product inventories and trends in consumer buying to anticipate which products will be in demand
- Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment
- Become highly proficient in the use of all equipment, software and programs used by each retail location (e.g. scales, POS program), and be able to troubleshoot when issues arise
- Understanding profit principles, retail pricing, and analysis
- Ensuring that all meat is cut and packed correctly to help prevent substandard quality while identifying and reducing costs from poor quality
- Executing ordering and receiving according to company procedure, ensuring that all product is accounted for that is purchased, damaged, wasted, or not sold within its shelf life in the manner designated by company policy
- Ensuring that all customers have a seamless shopping experience including a warm & friendly greeting, beneficial product knowledge, and appropriate additional recommendations
- Dealing with customer complaints and recommendations
- Maintaining store merchandising plan and maintaining store environment as welcoming and easy to shop, ensuring music and lighting are set to standard and product displays & pantries are clean, rotated and well-stocked
- Other duties as required
What you will bring to the table:
- Candidates fluent in both English and Spanish are preferred
- Completion of secondary school is required
- Completion of a related post-secondary diploma is preferred
- Strong customer service experience, a positive attitude, people-leading and relationship-building skills are required
- 2+ years experience in a leadership capacity is preferred
- Passion for food and butchery is required
- Experience in grocery, customer service, food service, and food production environment is preferred; priority will be given to those candidates with butchery experience
- A strong understanding of food and service industries is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize and balance tasks, working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, busy retail store
- Demonstrated ability to influence others and foster a positive work environment
- Must have Class G driver’s license or be willing to obtain it
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent bending and lifting of up to 50 lbs as required
- Ability to expertly and safely handle meat-cutting tools, including knives, saws, power tools, grinders, slicers, etc.
- Working in cold room temperatures (10C-12C)
- Wearing hairnets and safety shoes is required
- Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers, tablets, peripherals, and equipment used to package and process product
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
Things you should know:
- Managers are expected to work one weekend day per week
- You will share your time between two retail locations near Downtown Leamington within a 1km radius of each other
- A third location in Windsor will be added in 2024
