Responsibilities
- Work alongside the team in a customer-facing capacity to provide first-class customer service and cut, weigh, package, label and price meat, meat products, and other grocery items for sale
- Process whole cuts into customer-requested products; cut and grind meats and slice cooked meats using powered grinders, slicing machines and knives
- Wait on customers who wish to purchase meat products, including helping them select the right cut or brand for their needs, answering questions about preparation methods, and suggesting complementary and/or alternative meat or other stocked grocery products to customers
- Inspect the quality of meat and grocery expiry dates and ensure proper product rotation
- Ensure the maintenance of equipment, displays and work area
- Comply with government health and safety standards and occupational health and safety standards.
- Receive deliveries of meat products from suppliers and safely store them until they can be processed or delivered to customers
- Receive and store merchandise following the company's established standards
- Maintain a clean and presentable work environment across prep stations, counters, processing areas
Requirements
MUST HAVES:
- Language requirement: Spanish and English
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License (G2/G) with a clean driving record for performing deliveries
- Strong communication, task management, and customer service skills
- Knowledge of meat preparation techniques and cuts is an asset
- Motivation for continuous improvement and learning
- Flexibility, open-mindedness, a growth mindset and willingness to learn new skills and improve in areas of need
- Mechanical, technical and general problem-solving skills
- Physical strength ability to lift meat and meat products (50 lbs min.)
- Previous experience an asset
- Possess Ontario Safe Food Handler’s Certification or willingness to obtain it
- Flexible availability for hour fluctuations is required, with the ability to work evenings, weekends
